future plans
The future of St. Louis also looks very bright as there are already interests in addressing the Gateway Mall, the Riverfront, Arch Connector, Soulard Neighborhood Planning. One plan is the CityArchRiver 2015 plan which assist in making the Arch more convenient and safer to access by enlarging the parks grounds and museums. The park will connect the East and West riverfront and the surrounding areas. Bike paths, trails, play structures, performance venues, tourist spots, and riverfront access will be added to the grounds as well. The project will have a Park Over the Highway that will connect the Old Courthouse to the Arch grounds and the riverfront in one grassy path that people can wall on. This project is in construction now and has plans to be complete in 2015. [22] Figure 9 shows the location of the Arch project in relation to the city and figure 10 displays the finished project of the Arch and surrounding areas. [23] [24]
Legacy 2035 is an 8.2 billion dollar future plan to expand and improve transportation. It has plans to add five MetroLink extensions, improve 60 highways, and 27 transit corridors. It has hopes to improve congestion, safety, and the mobility needs of the city. [25]
